If you are worried that you have purchased a counterfeit device, please contact our customer care team who can check this for you.

The precision head simply attaches on to the front of your device via an internal magnet inside the front of the main device. This magnet holds the head in place whilst you treat the area. Simply unclip or re-attach depending on which area you’re treating.
This indicates there is a fault with the device. Stop using the device and contact the helpline.
Make sure the power supply is plugged in. Ensure the Skin Tone Sensor is fully pressed against the skin. SmoothSkin Bare+ will not activate if it detects an unsafe skin tone. Check against the skin tone chart in the front of your user guide. If you cannot get it to work, please contact us.

SmoothSkin Pure FIT is fitted with skin contact sensors that check your skin contact before each flash, making sure the device is safe to operate. The sensors must be in full contact with the treatment area for the device to flash.
If the device is not in full contact with the treatment area, the device will not flash. Try adjusting the positioning of the device and use the precision head attachment to ensure full contact is achieved, particularly on more awkward areas like arms and shins.
It’s possible that the area you are trying to treat is not suitable for IPL treatment. SmoothSkin Pure FIT includes an intelligent skin tone sensor that automatically detects your skin tone and selects the optimal treatment setting. Due to the nature of Intense Pulsed Light technology, SmoothSkin Pure FIT is not suitable to treat very dark skin or Fitzpatrick skin tone 6. If the device detects that your skin tone cannot safely receive IPL treatment, it will not flash and the power bar will illuminate red. Please check our skin tone chart for more information.
To get the most out of your SmoothSkin Pure FIT you should start off by using it once a week for 12 weeks continuously. There is no increased benefit from using your SmoothSkin Pure FIT more than once a week.
In the first few weeks, you will still see some hairs growing – relax. These will likely be the hairs that were not treated in their growth phase (when IPL is most effective). Just be sure to keep up with the treatments. From around 4 weeks, you should be seeing a reduction in hair regrowth. There will still be some hairs that need treating as you need to catch each hair in the right phase, but with continuous treatments, hair will not regrow.
Within 4 weeks, you should be seeing a reduction in hair regrowth. There will still be some hairs that need treating as you need to catch each hair in the right phase, but with continued treatments you will see continued hair reduction. Once you get the desired results, you’ll still need to continue with top-ups around every four to eight weeks to prevent hair regrowth.
Not at all. SmoothSkin Bare+ is fitted with a powerful fan to cool down the electric components, and sometimes the device may need to slow down slightly to allow the fan to do its job effectively.
Carefully wipe with a soft, dry cloth and ensure that the glass filter is undamaged after every use. The head of the device (gold or silver part) can be removed. Please see your user guide for further guidance.

Power Mode is the default setting when your device is switched on. You can toggle between the three modes pressing the Mode Button underneath the main Activation Button.
You can also use your SmoothSkin Pure device in stamp mode to treat smaller areas or in glide mode to treat larger areas fast. Stamp mode is activated by pressing the SS button once. Glide mode is activated by keeping the SS button firmly pressed whilst you glide over the treatment area. Your device will flash continuously for an ultra-fast and smooth treatment.

First make sure:
If your device is still not working please contact us for help.
Itchiness is a common side effect of IPL treatment. However, if you have intense itchiness which has not subsided after 24 hours, please stop using the device immediately and consult your GP before using SmoothSkin again.
SmoothSkin has clinically proven results, however, everyone is different. Treatment success can depend on a number of issues such as catching the hair at exactly the right stage of growth, or even hormone changes / imbalances.
Hair growth is cyclical and IPL treatments are only effective during one of the three growing phases (called the Anagen phase). Not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time which is why you need to keep up with your treatments. You may have missed a treatment or perhaps you didn’t catch the hair at the right stage.
Whilst the device may flash, IPL has little or no effect on naturally very blonde, grey or red hair. It is possible to see results when treating darker blonde hair, but you may need a few extra treatments to get the same standard of hair reduction.
With SmoothSkin Bare+ you can treat stubborn areas, such as underarms, with multiple passes, running your device over the same area a maximum of 3 times. Just be sure to move the device between shots and then come back to the original site, rather than treating 3 times continuously.
Contact us for extra support and tips at any stage throughout your SmoothSkin journey.
To use stamp mode on any SmoothSkin system, simply place the handset on the skin, press and release the activation button. Remove from the skin before carefully re-applying to the next treatment area. This is best for small areas such as your underarms and face.
To use glide mode, place the handset on the skin, press and hold down the activation button, then glide the handset along the skin between flashes. Try to move the handset at a steady speed that gives full coverage without overlap or missed areas. Twist or slightly readjust your device to ensure good skin contact is achieved throughout glide mode. Our unique safety sensor will prevent flashing if the device is not in full contact with your skin. This is best for larger areas such as your legs.
Most areas of the body can be treated with the exception of: mucus membranes (i.e. inside nostrils, lips of mouth, ears, inner labia), directly on the genitals (including pubis bone, perineum and scrotum), or around the vagina or anus. We don’t advise you treat the facial area above your cheekbones.
Yes, you can safely treat the face, cheek and jaw line, the upper lip, neck and chin areas. However, DO NOT use on eyebrows, eye lashes, the scalp, lips, nostrils and ears.
Of course! For the very best results from your treatment, we recommend shaving, but you can also wax, epilate or pluck any hairs if you’d prefer.
No – SmoothSkin is not suitable for use on tattoos.
No, do not use SmoothSkin devices if you are pregnant or breast feeding, as our devices have not been tested with these individuals.
IPL is unsuitable for treating grey, red or very light blonde (white) hair. Very fair and grey hair doesn’t contain enough melanin to absorb the light energy in the follicle, whilst red hair contains a different form of melanin altogether which isn’t responsive to IPL. It is possible to see results when treating darker blonde hair, but you may need a few extra treatments to get the same standard of hair reduction.
Yes. SmoothSkin devices have been clinically proven to be safe and effective, with close to 4,000 treatments performed on different skin tones*.
All SmoothSkin devices contain integrated UV filters to protect your skin against harmful light and a skin tone sensor to prevent the device from flashing unless it detects full contact with a safe skin tone.
IPL technology is unsuitable for use on very dark skin, or Fitzpatrick skin tone VI. Dark skin contains a high amount of pigment (melanin) and so will absorb more light, which, in extreme cases, can result in potential burns, discolouration or even scarring. All SmoothSkin devices are fitted with safety sensors to ensure that they don’t activate on unsuitable skin tones, but before you order a SmoothSkin product, please make sure you’re suitable for IPL treatment using the below chart and once purchased, remember to complete a patch test before treatment.
SmoothSkin Pure even has an intelligent skin tone sensor which automatically adapts the energy output to your individual skin tone, delivering the safest optimal treatment with every flash.

Not really, most people describe it as a slight tingling or warm sensation. In recent clinical trials, users rated the discomfort of a SmoothSkin treatment at just 1 out of 10. However, this varies from person to person, dependent on their hair colour and hair density. If you are a little sensitive to the treatment at first, remember SmoothSkin Pure features GENTLE MODE, which can help you get used to the experience.
Yes, we have performed almost 4,000 clinical treatments on hundreds of women with different skin tones to ensure our products are safe and effective in removing unwanted hair*. Users typically see noticeable hair reduction in just 4 weeks and clinical studies have proven long-term sustained hair reduction 1 year after the last SmoothSkin treatment.
