Frequently asked questions

SmoothSkin Pure will not activate unless it detects a safe skin tone to receive IPL treatment. The device includes an intelligent skin tone sensor that automatically detects your skin tone and selects the optimal treatment setting. Due to the nature of Intense Pulsed Light technology, SmoothSkin Pure is not suitable to treat very dark skin or Fitzpatrick skin tone 6. Please check our skin tone chart for more information.

This is caused by residual hairs, stubble or debris on the surface of the skin and won’t affect the device’s performance in any way, it’s purely cosmetic.

In the future, make sure you have shaved and cleaned the area you wish to treat immediately prior to treatments.

If you’re still concerned, please contact us for further advice.

First make sure:

  • The power supply is plugged in
  • the skin tone sensor on the front of device is illuminated
  • The skin sensors are pressed firmly against the skin for good contact

If your device is still not working please contact us for help.

SmoothSkin Pure features unlimited flashes, for results to last a lifetime. All products include 2 years’ manufacturers’ warranty against faults.

Our unique Smart Skin sensor automatically delivers safe optimal treatments tailored to your skin. When the Skin Tone Sensors are placed on the treatment area the blue light emitted by the Sensors is reflected back from your skin. The device then not only detects your skin is appropriate for treatment but also tailors the power delivered to your unique skin tone, to maximise your results safely.

To get the most out of your SmoothSkin Pure you should start off by using it once a week for 12 weeks continuously. There is no increased benefit from using your SmoothSkin Pure more than once a week.

In the first few weeks, you will still see some hairs growing – relax. These will likely be the hairs that were not treated in their growth phase (when IPL is most effective). Just be sure to keep up with the treatments. From around 4 weeks, you should be seeing a reduction in hair regrowth. There will still be some hairs that need treating as you need to catch each hair in the right phase, but don’t worry, things will only get better from here on in – so keep it up!

Once you have completed your initial 12-week treatment period, you just need to do a quick top-up treatment as required to maintain your results – usually once every 4-8 weeks or so.
